Mike joined the Cincinnati Insurance Companies (CIC) in 2000 as Director of the Information Security Office.  Since joining the Cincinnati Companies, Mike has managed a security team in support of security/privacy, insurance claims investigation, and cyber underwriting. 

 

Mike’s thirty three years in the security field include a tour with the US Air Force and as a Special Agent with the Defense Department.  Mike has fourteen years’ experience providing security support to defense contractors involved in sensitive military programs both nationally and internationally to include Japan and Korea.   In May 1999, Mike received a national award from the Director FBI, Louis Freeh, for “Exceptional Service in the Public Interest.”   

Mike has provided expert forensic and security assistance a variety of cases to include arson, bankruptcy, trademark infringement, divorce, national security, wrongful termination, medical malpractice, and insurance fraud cases.  Most notable was the 1997 federal court approval of a technical search protocol in a malpractice case resulting in court orders for the production of medical records.   

 

In support of academic sector, Mike is a regular panelist with the Academic Medical Center (AMC) conference on security & privacy.  Mike has led and participated in panels on Phishing, Social Media, Forensics and Information Security Metrics for NCHICA:  http://www.nchica.org/Activities/AMC2011/presentations.htm

 

Mike is a past President of the Greater Cincinnati Information System Security Association (ISSA) and is a frequent speaker with the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators (NSPII), Ohio Auto Theft Investigators Association (OATIA), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Association (CPCU) and the ACFE Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.  Mike is also a member of the Cincinnati CISO Roundtable.
