Feature Speaker: Colonel Mark Hess Topic: "NASIC Today"

Col. Mark Hess is the Vice Commander of the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. NASIC is the Air Force Center of Excellence for all-source foreign air and space intelligence. NASIC provides a broad range of integrated, tailored assessments and products and services to Air Force and Joint operational forces, national policymakers, and the acquisition community.
Colonel Hess entered the Air Force in 1984 as a graduate from Southern Illinois University. He has served as a deputy group commander, squadron commander, operations officer, assistant director of operations, flight commander, flight examiner, instructor pilot and executive officer. Colonel Hess accumulated over 130 combat hours in the B-52G during Desert Storm. His joint experience includes a tour on the USSTRATCOM staff as a bomber strike planner, executive officer and deputy chief of staff. His wide-ranging experience and knowledge was crucial to the introduction of the B-2 to the nation's single integrated operation plan. His leadership was key to the standup of Air Education and Training Command's first ever T-6A student training squadron and the building of it's premier demonstration team. Colonel Hess is a command pilot with more than 4,300 flying hours in T-6A, T-37, T-38A, T-38C, B-52G, and B-52H.
